Who are we?

We are a group of self-taught female musicians singing and performing culturally Spanish, Portuguese, and Latin American music, representing a centuries-old Spanish tradition. Officially founded in 2022 (but unofficially singing our hearts out from 2018), we are one of the rare tunas that exist outside of the Spanish/Portuguese-speaking world, and are based in the beautiful southern Dutch city of Maastricht.

As is the tuna tradition, we were brought together by our studies at Maastricht University, and are proud to be a student association which includes current students and alumni. We perform our music on the streets of Maastricht and cities across Europe, bringing our infectious energy and joy to private and public events, and traveling to Spain and Latin America to compete in official festivals.

What kind of music do we play?

Typically, our songs are in Spanish and occasionally Portuguese. We play Spanish, Latin American, and Portuguese songs, from timeless classics to beautiful contemporary songs which transcend time and even culture. If you’d like to hear some of our music, check out the video below, where we were filmed for local Spanish TV during a festival in Dúrcal in 2023.

Being the youngest tuna in the Netherlands, we are very excited to continue learning and growing. We’ve had the most fun spreading our joy to others and bringing a little sunshine to our often cloudy country. Come and join us dancing and singing your hearts out, we would love to meet you! If you’d like to learn more about us, you can read a little of our history here, and don’t hesitate to reach out to us by email, social media, or our contact form if you’d like to know more. And of course: ¡Aupa la Tuna!
